Our Oakwood Division in Paulding County, Ohio, breeds hogs and turkeys while providing the best care to our animals in a small team setting. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Breeder Service Manager to join our team in Oakwood.
The primary goal of this position is the operation and supervisory control of all farms through the utilization and application of all company programs, assisting every manager with daily responsibilities, designing and implementing new programs and project while striving for overall departmental excellence.
SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday (Salary role)
STARTING RATE: Commensurate with experience
ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)
Job Functions:
- Assures all animal welfare and biosecurity procedures are followed and continually implement new ideas to develop and educate team members to the importance of animal welfare and biosecurity
- Visit four farms weekly to assist each manager in obtaining their goals of 100% pack of projection, 93.5% fertility, 89% hatch of fertile, 82% hatch of set, and healthy and fit breeder replacements
- Assists in preparation and operation of meetings
- Provides analysis of financial and flock settlement results pointing out strengths and weaknesses to respective managers
- Works closely with all managers, training and educating all team members to work safely. Monitor all facilities for any unsafe areas or jobs that can be changed to be safer
- Monitors the condition and maintenance needs of farms/buildings and work with the maintenance department to be sure items are completed
- Maintains good human relations and a good attitude towards managers and other team members
- Schedules and contacts plant/mill to arrange all kills going to the plant and all samples have been taken and sent in
- Provides creative leadership to all functions managed
- Supports corporate-wide decision making by supplying information and input as required
- Assists in the planning for the future of the divisions; scheduling, and all operations of the division to best fit the company’s current and expected needs
- Help to develop standard operating procedures and standard work instructions for all jobs and perform necessary audits to help maintain proper standards across the area
- Visit other companies with staff to stay abreast of the changing breeds and strains and how others operate
Requirements - A minimum of 10 years experience in a turkey related position in addition to a preferred college degree in business or poultry science
