Job Description

Our St. Henry Harvesting plant in Mercer County, Ohio, prepares the turkeys for further processing and distribution. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 3rd shift Quality Service Production Supervisor in our Evisceration department to join our team in St. Henry.

The primary goal of this position is to assist the Quality Services Manager in meeting the goals and objectives of the Quality Services Department, to oversee the activity of the QS personnel on the floor, and serve as a liaison between production, quality and the USDA.

SHIFT HOURS: Sunday through Thursday 9:00pm-5:30am
STARTING PAY RATE: Commensurate with experience

ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

Job Functions:

  • Monitor the activities and work performance and have correlations with Quality Technicians and Sorters to maintain consistency in the department.
  • Perform all necessary performance plans and evaluations of the Quality Technicians and Sorters as directed by the Quality Services Manager.
  • Assist Quality Services Manager in addressing production needs and concerns in all quality related matters.
  • Serve as a liaison between production and the USDA in matters that involve the quality of our products or our procedures.
  • Recommend or implement methods or procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality Services department.
  • Make recommendations of personnel actions such as transfers, promotions, or terminations.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of the SSOP, GMP, NPIS and HACCP, Animal Welfare, and Sorter and Quality programs and monitor production’s efforts and effectiveness in these programs.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a two-year degree in food science, business management or related areas and at least three years of experience in the quality services area. Experience with Cooper Farms will be considered in lieu of the educational requirements for this position.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to safely lead a team to meet production goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety specifications and practices, production goals, and scheduling needs are a necessity
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels to strive towards continuous improvement is a must.
