Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Hatchery Division Manager to join our team in Oakwood.
The primary goal of this position is to oversee all operations of the hatchery division striving for quality poults.
SHIFT HOURS: This is a Monday through Friday 1st shift salary role
STARTING RATE: Commensurate with experience
ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)
Job Functions:
- Focus on balancing quality and efficiency in all related endeavors and work closely with the hatchery staff on all hatchery operations
- Monitor all operations of both Hatcheries 1 and 2, including egg sets, set times, transfers, and pulling hatch
- Review all tasks throughout the hatcheries through job descriptions and make standard operating procedures for all jobs
- Monitor hatchability levels and assist in increasing percentage level. This includes the maintenance of incubators and hatchers, temperature changes, pre-heating, set times and pull times, and cleaning and sanitation on all equipment
- Manage costs to remain within budget by monitoring the P&L’s each month
- Monitor and adjust room conditions including ventilation, filter changing, air conditioning, and swamp coolers
- Monitor the water treatment system
- Assist the Hatchery Maintenance Technician in training team members in the operation and maintenance of incubators and hatchers
- Attend seminars and visit other industry related companies to gain more insight into better ways of accomplishing goals
- Delegate repair needs to maintenance
- Responsible for safety audits and safety improvements in the hatchery and for maintaining a safe work environment
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in animal science, poultry science, management, or a business-related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in management required (Educational requirements may be waived if candidate experience is exemplary in a hatchery environment and/or the livestock industry)
- Hatching knowledge
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to safely lead a team to meet production goals in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of safety specifications and practices
- Organizational skills
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels to strive towards continuous improvement is a must in this position.
