Job Description

Our Oakwood Division in Paulding County, Ohio, breeds hogs and turkeys while providing the best care to our animals in a small team setting. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Human Resource Manager to join our team in Oakwood.

The primary goal of this position is to effectively plan and implement all policies and programs relating to the personnel needs of the division. This position will lead, maintain, and coordinate all human resource functions as assigned. In addition, there is a responsibility for maintaining the culture of highest animal care, biosecurity, team member and product safety, legality, and quality systems.

SHIFT HOURS: This is a Monday through Friday 1st shift salary role

STARTING HOURLY RATE: From $73,250/yr

PERKS: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

Job Functions:

  • Provide direction and support to the divisional HR team and all HR related activities
  • Oversee the policies and procedures to make sure they are consistently enforced and communicated
  • Be a strategic partner with the divisional leadership team
  • Manage the hiring process for all new salaried and administrative team members. And oversee the hiring process for all hourly job openings
  • Oversee all administrative functions of HR including job labor management, leave of absences, evaluations, approval of all HR related contracts, team member documentation and files, etc.
  • Work with the Safety Manager to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and implemented
  • Assist in coaching, counseling, and problem-solving with team members
  • Provide support and direction for managers and supervisors with people-related events including attendance infractions, poor work performance, and conduct, as well as direct involvement with all disciplinary actions that involve demotion, suspension, and/or termination of employment to assure fair and consistent practices
  • Lead the management of the divisional TN Visa program and support broader immigration and visa operations
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of team member development programs at all levels
  • Recommend innovative approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in all HR functions performed including retention, turnover, and recruitment efforts
  • Stay current on all HR related regulations and requirements to assure compliance
  • Promote communication with team members through the Cooper Chronicle, bulletin boards, digital signage, flyers, etc.
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate payment as well as ensure all policies are being followed
  • Promote the Cooper Culture through trainings and personal demonstration
  • Maintain an active interest in safety, quality, performance level, attendance, and attitude
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Five years' experience in Human Resources
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Must be knowledgeable and current in all labor and employment laws and regulations as well as company policies
  • Bilingual is preferred but not required
